Technical buildings inspection (known in Spanish as Inspección técnica de los edificios - ITE)
26 February 2011 marks the coming into force of the decree governing the technical inspections of buildings, an obligatory inspection that must be passed by all multi-occupancy housing in accordance with the inspections programme published as Appendix III of Decree 187/2010.
The aim is to implement a system of periodic checks of the state of the housing by means of a procedure to verify what owners need to do to preserve and renovate their buildings.
When are technical building inspections necessary?
All multi-occupancy buildings are subject to an obligatory technical inspection. Depending on the age of the building, there are deadlines for applying to the Agència de l'Habitatge de Catalunya for the corresponding fitness certificate.
